54th  Annual Horticultural Show

AUGUST 25thAND 26th, 2018

At the Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, Youngstown, Ohio

Free and Open to the Public!

Fourteen judging sections ranging from fruits and vegetables to perennials and  annuals to hanging baskets and potted plants.

Section A - Vegetables Section E - Dahlias Section I- Cacti

Section AA - Ornamentals Section F- Bulbs, Tubers, Etc. Section J - Succulents

Section B - Fruits Section G- Roses Section K- Woody Plants

Section C - Annuals Section H - Potted Plants Section L - Hanging

Section D - Perennial, Biennial Section HH- Bonsai Containers(max 16”)

Participation is open to both youth and adults interested in the rewarding and enjoyable pastime of growing plants.

Entries to be judged must be received between 7 and 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 25.

Late entries will be displayed but not judged.


AWARDS ARE GIVEN IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:·

 

  • Sectional Awards - given to entries from each section of the competition    Best of Show Award - chosen from all sectional winners 

Sweepstakes Award- determined by points

“Heaviest Tomato Award”- $25 for the heaviest edible tomato Sponsored by Greier Ag

Bo Korody

“Largest Zinnia Award”- $25 for the largest zinnia Sponsored by Carl and Yvonne Ford

Youth Gardener Awards (16 and under)- sectional and best of show awarded!

MGCY Heaviest Tomato and Largest Zinnia Award

The Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown will sponsor their 54th Annual Horticultural Show at Fellows Riverside Gardens August 25 and 26, 2018.  Both youth and adults are invited to view as well as present entries into this show. Note!  You do not have to be a member of the MGCY to enter.

TWO SPECIAL ENTRIES  !!!

 Two special entries this year will be the Larry Whetson Heaviest Tomato Award and the Boe Korody Largest Zinnia Award.  The tomato award is based on weight. The zinnia award is based on diameter but must be a blue ribbon winner.  The best entry in each of these areas will receive a $25.oo award.

Best of Section ribbons will also be given for fourteen other areas such as vegetables, annuals, perennials etc.  Entries will be received Saturday, August 25 from 7:00 am to 10:30 am.  For additional information contact Rodney Toth at (330) 759-1993
